Bringing hope to individuals experiencing Domestic/Intimate Partner Violence

The 2015 Purdue Alumnus Magazine has her book listed in the November/December issue. It is also listed under the Interfaith Initiatives Spiritual Response to domestic violence guide on the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence website. (mnadv.org/faith) The awakening of churches, organizations, and individuals that view domestic violence as an important issue in today’s society is the focus of the book. (Xulonpress.com, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com)

A woman seeking help to flee an abusive situation can turn to a secular society to direct her to shelters, lawyers, and finances to relieve her fears of finding a place for herself and her children. Churches are aware of domestic violence issues, but many pastors, leaders, and laypersons are not receiving adequate training to minister to victims or abusers. There are churches today that are making a step in the right direction. They are not only providing domestic violence resource information, emotional and spiritual support, but also offer unconditional love to victims going through this challenging time in their life. The methods or interventions used by these churches, organizations, and individuals can also be a model for churches in Maryland as well as churches in other parts of the United States and abroad.

BRINGING HOPE TO YOUR FUTURE

The Lord is my protector: I shall not fear. He makes me strong and leads me into His perfect will for my life. He comforts my soul; he leads me to the path of peace (restores) and to him I give all the Glory. Even when I stumble and fall, he is there to pick me up. I will not fear my abuser because God is my rock and fortress. He is my help in time of trouble. I am filled with the Holy Spirit; He is my joy because through him I find strength. I am anointed with power from on high to do the work of the Lord. He has thoughts of me of peace and not of evil, to give me an expected end. I will be in good health and prosper all the days of my life. I will live so that I may do the works of the Lord. Amen (Modified version of Psalms 23, KJV) “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
